A little history
Liverpool's waterfront was a UNESCO World Heritage Site from 2004 until it was delisted in 2021 over new waterfront development — the Pier Head 'Three Graces' still dominate the skyline.
The Beatles formed in Liverpool in 1960 and honed their early sound playing hundreds of shows at the Cavern Club on Mathew Street before achieving worldwide fame.
The local dialect, known as 'Scouse,' takes its name from lobscouse, a cheap stewed-meat dish brought to the port by Northern European sailors.
Liverpool's Merseyside Maritime Museum documents the city's deep maritime past, including its role in the transatlantic slave trade and its connection to the Titanic and Lusitania.
