Quick facts
Getting ashore
When to visit Valparaíso
Southern Hemisphere summer (December-March) is best for warm, dry weather; winter (June-August) is cooler and wetter.
Getting back to the ship on time
Valparaiso's steep hillside neighborhoods (cerros) and funiculars can eat up more time than expected, so independent travelers exploring the hills should turn back with a wide margin before all-aboard, especially if also visiting Vina del Mar or Santiago.
All-aboard is ship's time — check it in the daily programme, and set your watch to it.
