🇩🇲 Roseau (Dominica), Dominica — Cruise Port Guide
The Nature Island — mountainous, drenched and almost entirely green, with 365 rivers, a boiling lake in a volcanic crater, and rainforest that starts where the town ends. Not a beach island, and proud of it.

Quick facts
Getting ashore
When to visit Roseau (Dominica)
December to April is the dry season and the cruise season. June to November is hurricane season and much wetter, which is when the waterfalls are at their best.
Good to know
Roads here are narrow, steep and slow, and rain makes trails genuinely slippery. Wear proper shoes rather than sandals, and treat the Boiling Lake hike as a serious walk, not an excursion.
Things to do in Roseau (Dominica)
Trafalgar Falls
Twin waterfalls a short walk from the road, with hot and cold pools you can soak in at the base. The easiest big sight on the island.
Champagne Reef snorkel
Volcanic gas bubbles rise through the seabed while you snorkel over the coral. Genuinely unlike anywhere else in the Caribbean.
Titou Gorge & Emerald Pool
Swim up a narrow rock gorge to a waterfall, and walk the short rainforest trail to the Emerald Pool. Both featured in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Kalinago Territory
Across the island to the last Carib community in the region, with a model village, canoe building and basketry explained by residents.
Roseau & the Botanic Gardens
Colonial timber houses with fretwork balconies, the old market, and gardens where a school bus is still pinned under a baobab felled by a 1979 hurricane.
Boiling Lake hike
Six to eight hours return through the Valley of Desolation. Serious, guided-only, and one of the great Caribbean walks — not a casual port-day option.
What to eat
- Callaloo soup
- Mountain chicken (historically)
- Fresh cocoa tea
- Bakes with saltfish
- Kubuli beer
