Getting ashore
When to visit Athens (Piraeus)
April-June and September-October offer comfortable mid-20s C weather for sightseeing; July-August is hot (30C+) with the Acropolis very crowded.
Getting back to the ship on time
Athens traffic and Metro Line 3 crowding can slow the return trip, so leave the city at least 2-3 hours before all-aboard to safely make it back to the ship.
